This show, through the use of assemblies, video, installation and painting explores some possible and humorous exigencies that could be associated with the already existing pipe and valve construct in gallery 3. It is also the outcome of an investigation into its form, function and how humans relate to mechanical devices.
Danny Frommer’s practice is hands on, it involves taking things apart and reassembling them (particularly machines), as a means of finding out how they work.
Danny’s work also involves fabricating, maintaining, machining and altering components that are often found, recycled, machine made and/or hand made. They are often the outcome of investigations into themes concerning the body, popular culture, knowledge systems and the distribution and transformation of different forms of energy.
He makes loose narratives and compound propositions that focus on the fallible, visceral, humorous and dysfunctional qualities associated with machines and processes.
