Daisy’s practice engages with live sites of cultural and ecological concern in order to respond to the systemic effects and toxicities associated with global conditioning. Their work fuses sound, video, painting and performance within a schismatic deep-fake post-truth context. Hell-bent on interrogating the complacency of contemporary art and the depravity of discipline - this is a search for futures that haven’t already been redacted and/or destroyed. Daisy’s staunch and weaponised critique embraces humour, humility, belonging, and the perpetual emergence/submergence of unapologetic personal and political unravel.
Born 1985 Yuin Country, Biggah River.
Lives and works within the unceded lands of the Boonwurrung and Woi-wurrung Wurundjeri peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation.
Daisy’s practice forms only part of an ongoing acknowledgement, a truth telling, and extends deep respect to Traditional Owners, Elders, community and kin, and to all Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and First Nations People; living, being, memory and place as time immemorial.
Their work has been exhibited with The Lock-up Artspace, Runway Experimental Art Journal, SEVENTH gallery, Rabbit Poetry Journal, Kings ARI, UNprojects & Cementa. Selected as a finalist in Art Gallery Of South Australia’s Ramsay Art Prize (2019) and the Parliament of NSW King & Wood Malleson Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award (2018). Recipient of the Windmill Trust Scholarship for regional NSW artists (2019, National Association for the Visual Arts) and The Brenda Clouten memorial travelling scholarship for young achievers in the visual arts (2016, Maitland Regional Art.
Gallery). Daisy is a current Master of Fine Art research candidate at the Victorian College of the Arts.
