Exhibits,
Lucas Golding Ich Liebe Spaß (I love fun)
Opening: Wednesday 30 November, 6-8pm Dates: 30 November - 23 December 2016‘Ich Liebe Spaß (I love fun)’ is a collection of my recent abstract painting and kinetic sculpture. My practice revolves around the exploration of fun and focuses on the joy in process. The meaning lies solely in the enjoyment of conception and production of the work. When approaching a sculpture, I surround myself with materials that interest me and I play with them. When this play leads to energised focus, plans are drawn and the work begins. When construction of my sculptures becomes too rigorous, I turn to painting. My sculptures at this point are like workdays, and my paintings weekends. I approach painting with a naivety having wins and losses from moment to moment, the outcome continually blurred, eventually squinted into focus.
If you enjoy being in the space, I count that as a win. In the words of Pablo Picasso “people who try and explain pictures are usually barking up the wrong tree”.
