Sam Fagan In Between

Opening: Wednesday 23 July, 6-8pm Dates: 23 July-9 August 2014

In Between, will display the results of a 12 month undertaking in which Sam Fagan has frequented the sites of car accidents or incidents, encountered post-event, in Melbourne, nationally, and internationally. Identifying these specific geographical locations through the familiar debris of shattered and strewn safety glass, Fagan has garnered this particular material as the residue of an unknown, but knowingly untoward occurrence. Created as randomly as it is encountered, the blending and reformation of this material, dislocated from its origin, seeks to retain what would otherwise be suppressed beneath the movement of the city. The entropic, mechanical and violent nature of these events – an unsettling, if not disturbing function of our modern environment – facilitates an interest in repression and the rupture, where Gallery 2 of BUS Projects will be used to resurface parts, all, or elements of the collected experiences and materials.
