Engages,

Geoff Robinson, Ying-Lan Dann Lower Moonee Ponds Creek Tributary Project

Dates: 7pm, Tuesday 25 August 2020

Lower Moonee Ponds Creek Tributary Project is an audio work that investigates the redirected, hidden and remnant creek tributaries of inner northwest Melbourne.

The project was developed through daily walks during Covid-19 restrictions and focuses on a local hidden creek tributary that runs submerged from Royal Park to Moonee Ponds Creek. Geoff Robinson was joined by fellow local resident, architect and artist Ying-Lan Dann on a conversational walk that followed the hidden creek, discussing the durational layers of the creek and the complexities of engaging with a site that has been so radically altered over the past 185 years.

This project acknowledges the Wurundjeri people and Elders past and present of the Kulin Nations as the traditional custodians of the land and waterways of inner northwest Melbourne.

Tune in 7pm, Tuesday 25 August 2020:

Geoff Robinson is a Melbourne based artist working on Wurundjeri country, who creates event-based artworks that utilise the temporal qualities of sound and performance and the spatial conditions of physical sites to unravel the durational layers of place.  Ying-Lan Dann is an architect, artist and academic whose research examines how systems of movement give rise to certain spatial conditions; movement that conveys, such as passages, streams, streets and thresholds, and impedes, such as borders and walls.
