"Music Video 6"
Repairs, Jonny Telafone, Egypt Lies
Curated by: Harriet Kate Morgan

Opening:
Dates: Saturday 16 May 2015

Jonny Telafone is a Canberra-expat, Melbourne-based auteur, working in a genre that could be best described as post-apocalyptic R’n’B. ‘Romeo Must Cry’ is Jonny’s first official album, after a series of digital and cassette releases stretching back to the late 2000s. This period culminated in Chapter Music’s 2012 self-titled compilation.

Formed in late 2009, Repairs are a minimal synth group comprised of Ben Hepworth, Alexander Lee, Andrew Brocchi and Nick Kuceli. Drawing from the late 70s and early 80s experimental electronics, Repairs utilize a combination of analogue synthesizers and drum machines to create a menacingly minimalist throbbing pulse. Repairs have released a self titled cassette on Captured Tracks, ‘High Rise Horizon’ 7″ on Nihilistic Orbs, ‘Decay 7″ on Hozac Records and are currently finishing off their debut LP ‘Night Circuit’.

Egypt Lies is the romanticised project of Louis Tavolaro. Crooning over fantasy and misinterpreted social encounters, Egypt Lies projects his thoughts through minimal synth wave.
