Opening: Tuesday 22 July, 6-8pm Dates: 22 July-10 August 2004

Born in Melbourne (Australia) in 1977, David Keating has studied at, amongst other schools, the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne. Today he lives and works in Berlin. At he Kunsthaus Baselland he will realise his first institutional solo show. Fascinated by the idea of comprehending sculptural objects as three-dimensional lines and as expansive drawings, David Keating will create a large sculpture specifically for the exterior space of the Kunsthaus Baselland and complement this with a further sculpture – a kind of doubling of the first – in the attached annex and thus in an interior space. David Keating was recently involved in group exhibitions at the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, the Brussels Biennial 1, Brussels (‘Show Me, Don’t Tell Me’, 2008), and the Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius, Lithuania (‘Tales from the Travel Journal Vol. 1’, 2007).
