Joe Robinson

Opening: Tuesday 7 August, 6-8pm
Dates: 7 August-15 September 2012

'PODIUM' is the negotiation of spaces. It addresses the nature of architectural language, how structure and form communicates, exploring the barriers between action and spectatorship – inviting or denying access. Combined with the unspoken social code of behaviour synonymous with the gallery, the environment created here, challenges the viewer to negotiate the bounds of their jurisdiction.

Joe Robinson is about to complete his Ba Fine Arts – Sculpture and Spatial Practice at the Victorian Collage of the Arts, Melbourne University. Robinson’s practice aligns itself with a reoccurring interest in site-specificity, often creating architectural zones, through an interest in social climates and haptic exploration of functional construction methods.
