Tom Reddington, Meagan Wyke Pyramid, or Why am I so angular?

‘Pyramid, or Why am I so angular?’ is a collaboration between Tom Reddington and Meagan Wyke. The exhibition is an exploration of the connotation and denotation of the pyramid form. From ancient Egypt to the back of a cereal packet this hierarchical shape represents a consistent structure within post (European) enlightenment culture. The artists have created an environment using constructions, found objects and paint to engage the viewer within a dialogue around the presence and monumentalism of hierarchy. ‘Pyramid, or why Am I so Angular?’ harnesses art’s holism, using it to interrogate, ponder, fetishise and maybe even enjoy this structure of our civilisation in all its moods.

Meagan Wyke and Tom Reddington are currently living and working in Melbourne. Meagan, who completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Monash Gippsland Centre of Art and Design (2009) and Tom, who completed a Bachelor of Arts/Visual Arts (Honours) at Monash Caulfield and Melbourne University (2010), first formed their friendship and a collaborative relationship during their studies abroad in Prato Italy 2007. This exhibition is Tom and Meagan’s third collaboration together.
