Exhibits,
Nina Gilbert The image shadow The shadow general
Opening: Wednesday 8 June, 6-8pm Dates: 8–25 June 2016Nina Gilbert uses photography and video to look at consciousness, encounter and event. Objects, actions and gestures are framed by the camera and become activated in their physical arrangement, moving closer or further apart as the viewer moves through the work. When combined images exist in superficial relationships and mimic the formal or material qualities of public spaces both virtual and physical.
In this current body of work the artist uses both constructed and found imagery from the Internet, news websites, sports photographs and the artist’s personal archive. Larger photographs of empty space create a field or framework in which smaller objects or image fragments float.
