The Phonetic Orchestra Marathon Performance

Featuring: Andy Butler, Brett Thompson, Callum G’Froerer, Jonathan Heilbron, Jon Smeathers, Michael McNab, Reuben Lewis, Simon Charles with special guest director, Dale Gorfinkel.

The Phonetic Orchestra and Ensemble was created in 2012 as a vehicle to explore the evolving relationship between notation and sound. Its members work across fields such as contemporary classical music and music of an improvisatory and/or experimental nature. Major concerns for the group are presenting music centred on close listening, detailed execution and innovative approaches to live performance. The unique space offered at Bus Projects will offer an opportunity for the Orchestra to explore ideas of segregation, interconnectedness and multi-layered perception of sound, accross a time-frame that allows for a kind of listening that is rarely experienced.
