Edition of 5 + 1 AP, Archival inkjet print on Museo Portfolio Rag (2016)
By employing a visual vernacular of crafted and industrial finishes, Joshua Steven’s practice splices the high end with the low brow to exploit the boundaries between class and taste. Recent work has drawn inspiration from domestic/commercial décor and objects, resulting in a variety of wall mounted sculptures.
Joshua studied his BFA at the VCA and completed his Honours in 2015. He has shown in a number of group and solo exhibitions in Australia. Selected galleries include: Blindside, C3 (upcoming), Bus Projects, Kings ARI, Alaska Projects, Westspace and Rearview Gallery. He has been the recipient of the AG McMillen Arts Trust for Art, Irene Sutton Award and the Rearview Gallery Award.
