Patrick Pound’s work suggests that meaning can be found in the accumulation of things. He draws on personal archives that have been amassed from years of obsessive and meticulous searching, and which include found photographs, everyday objects and cuttings from newspapers and magazines. As if the world is a puzzle, Pound reorders these fragments into telling juxtapositions to create a greater, albeit imagined, logic. Through this process, banal and quite disconnected moments are elevated to become humorous, poetic and insightful reflections on the human condition.

Pound has been included in numerous group exhibitions including: The Photograph and Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales (2015); Melbourne Now, National Gallery of Victoria (2014); 13th Dong Gang International Photo Festival, Korea (2014); The Small Infinite, John Hansard Gallery, UK (2014); Inside Running, Fremantle Arts Centre (2013); Liquid Archive, Monash University Museum of Art (2012); Present Tense, National Portrait Gallery (2010); and Photographer Unknown, Monash University Museum of Art (2009). In 2015, Pound was a Finalist in the AGDA Design Awards and in 2012 he was a Finalist in the Basil Sellars Art Prize. His work is held in numerous public and private collections including National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Museum of New Zealand, Auckland Art Gallery, and the Dunedin Art Gallery.

Patrick Pound is represented by STILLS, Sydney.
