Annabelle Kingston
"Glenorchy Primary School"
2017
500x600mm
Edition of 5 + AP
Archival inkjet print on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta

Annabelle Kingston holds a BFA (Honours) from the Victorian College of The Arts, 2012. Recent exhibitions include Splash, LON gallery, 2016; Is/Is not, West Space, 2016 and Acrylic on Bored (solo), Bus Projects, 2015. Her work focuses on paintings and photographs that are semi-biographical, depicting dreamlike everyday events and activities. In 2010 the primary school that I attended, Glenorchy Primary School, closed down. The school had 13 students when I was there and when it finally closed there were a total of four students. This image was taken after the school was closed and the buildings had been taken away. All that was left were parts of the playground that hadn’t yet sold or been removed. For some reason someone had stacked branches onto the monkey bars.
