David Attwood
"Magic Carpet (Anti-Fatigue Mat)"
2019
210x250mm
Edition of 10 + AP
archival lightjet print

"Magic Carpet (Anti-Fatigue Mat) uses found images of an Anti-Fatigue Sit Stand Mat retrieved from the Officeworks online catalogue. ‘Perfect for the workplace’ the Anti Fatigue Mat is ‘designed to cushion and support your feet to provide relief from constant standing.’ The product can be seen to emblematise working conditions in the ‘age of precarity’, where overwork and exhaustion is expected, required and encouraged.

David Attwood creates work using objects and images to explore consumer culture, kitsch and morality. Often in reference to the lineages of conceptual art, Attwood looks to approach complex and lofty ideas through their most minimal material embodiment. Attwood has exhibited his work throughout Australia, and produces projects for gallery settings, online platforms and public spaces."
